Reflecting Writing Nº 1: The English Classroom

I-. What do you think the cartoon provided bellow is illustrating?
Why? Answer briefly.

What the image shows is what all new teachers are afraid of having in their classes, CHAOS. The kids are not paying any attention to the teacher, that clearly has not turning around to see what is going on with their students, and she is only writing on the board, there is no calssroom management, a very important part of our work as a future teachers, not having the control of the class leads to a complete failure of the class itself, students need to have a strong image of the teacher, not meaning strong in the physical aspect but strong as a presence in the classroom, the person that will stand in front and teach the students not only content of the English matter, but the teacher also has to teach values and give the enough trust to the students for them to feel comfortable in the classroom, I will go and pursue this kind of teaching in my life, be friends of your students, when one has the trust and the understanding of the students, one feels comfortable standing in front of the class and knows that the students are paying attetion to your class, you get to know this by the way they participate in your class, even if it is with a silly joke.

Reflective Writing:

Taking into account the information collected during the observation stage, and the team teaching stage...

1-. Reflect on the students' behavior in the English classroom

Well, during my whole process I could see that English is a hard time for kids that are not really interested in the subject, they get distracted easily and they do not do any effort for succed in it. Some of them, on the other hand, like English but they are afraid of making any kind of mistake in front of the class, the laughter of their partners really influnces the behavior of the kids when talking of English is about.

2-. Have you seen your students behaving this way? Support your answer.

I have seen my students behaving this way, and I felt awful, when you loose control of your class you can see the ship sinking in front of you eyes and there is nothing you can do about it. When good manner words do not work, threaten your students is not your style and whe the activity you planned is not the thing that they want to do in that moment, nothing is what you have in your hands, but what we never have to loose is calm in front of them, do not show never a sad face neither scare, that will only ake hings worst, remain calm and try to do your best, be sure that that moment will be over at a point and then you can reflect and know what did you do wrong or you can be aware of the things that need to be improve, that is what I did.

3-. Propose ideas to deal with disruptive students in your school.

In the school where I'm doing my internship I think I do not have major disruptive problems with my students, in fact I am really surprised because it is a very poor school, in a very isolated area of Viña del Mar, when a situation like that has everything to lead to a dangerous situation, in the school occurs the opposite, there are adorable students that are at the same time very respectful and polite to me, of course there are some cases when the student stands out for his/her behavior but I can relate that to the age and the stage they are, they need to be the center and be noticed.
My idea is to provide students with what is missing in their lives, and that's love and attention, when one gets to hear the students everything seems to be easier with them, in a society like we are right now with the lack of communication seems to be a daily situation, we have to deal with students that barely talk with their parents or even see them, and a situation like that is what we have to change, kids need to be heard.
